A fast moving fire destroyed the ANA Laboratories on Harding Avenue near Creek Road in Bellmawr New Jersey ( Camden County ). Shortly before 7:30 p.m. on January 30, 2008 a fire broke out inside in the rear of the building.

As workers were trying to extinguish the fire a passing motorist noticed smoke and flames coming from one of the windows and dialed 911. Two companies from Bellmawr along with Quint 91 from Barrington and Engine Companies from Mt. Ephraim and Runnemede were dispatched. The first in fire fighters from Bellmawr stretched a 2 1/2 inch line inside the front door and were faced by heavy fire and smoke conditions. An aggressive interior attack was made as the truck company went to the roof to ventilate. Heavy fire conditions and a partial collapse in the rear section forced fire fighters to pull out and setup for an exterior attack. A 2nd Alarm was quickly sounded bringing Engine Companies from Deptford Twp. (Gloucester County) and Engine Company from Lawnside Fire Co. along with a Ladder Company from Westmont Fire Dept and a Ladder Company from Westville Fire Dept. ( Gloucester County ). All Companies went into Service with their heaviest water lines as flames were now racing through the back part of the structure.

A Special Call was made for the Cherry Hill Fire Dept. Hazmat Company along with a 3rd Alarm bringing two extra Ladder Companies from Chews Landing Fire Co. and Audubon Fire Department . Four Ladder Companies were now working along with numerous hand lines as the fire raced through the building. There were a few minor explosions and part of the roof, side and rear walls were collapsing. Members of Cherry Hill Twp. Squad Company 6 Hazmat team were able to remove a dozen 50 gallon drums of chemicals from the blazing building.

Heavy smoke covered the entire area and part of the Route 42 Freeway, which runs near the fire building. It took fire fighters over two hours to bring the blaze Under Control. Canteen Units supplied hot coffee and refreshments to about one hundred fire fighters. The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal's Office.
