Anniversary of Tragic Death of Safety Service Patrol Operator Joe Kealey
Today marks the 10 year anniversary of a tragedy we wish would never have happened. On January 11, 2010, #NJDOT Safety Service Patrol (SSP) Operator Joe Kealey was struck and killed while assisting a disabled motorist. Joe was a dedicated public servant who was known as the “Good Samaritan” on the highway.
In only 5 years with SSP, he helped over 3,000 motorists and compiled more than 825 commendations from the drivers he helped. He was a husband, father and greatly admired coworker. We will never forget the sacrifice Joe made and will continue to spread the message of #SLOWDOWN #MOVEOVER in his memory. #NJDOTSSP
