One minute after 12 this morning, TaskForce 84 along with GTEMS and Virtua Paramedics were alerted to an apartment fire with reported people trapped in the Downtown Blackwood Area. Upon the arrival of GTPD, it was reported there was fire from the roof and residents were being evacuated. Upon the arrival of Engine 88, the report was confirmed and companies went to work. Engine 842 arrived second due with a crew of 5 and split between an interior and exterior crews. The interior crew began open the ceilings of the fire apartment, before being alerted to evacuate due to deteriorating conditions.

The fire ended up reaching three alarms before being placed under control around 3:30 am, companies remained on the scene until just after 5 am.

No injuries were reported.

This fire is under investigation by the local and county Fire Marshals.
